Functionalities of the etahydro modules
Visualization
During operation, sensors record the relevant measured values for calculating the machine’s efficiency. This allows changes in turbine efficiency to be evaluated and visualized during operation (condition monitoring).
Decision-making support
The annual generation losses for various electricity price forecasts are calculated on the basis of the efficiency histories. You can record the power plant-specific revision costs simply and systematically. The generation losses are then compared with the calculated revision costs.

Functionalities of the etahydro modules
Visualization
During operation, sensors record the relevant measured values for calculating the machine’s efficiency. This allows changes in turbine efficiency to be evaluated and visualized during operation (condition monitoring).

Visualization
Suspended sediment measuring devices record the relevant measured variables for determining the suspended sediment concentration during operation. The measurement data is corrected as required using specially developed algorithms. High suspended sediment concentrations are detected during operation and visualized in Hydro Insights.
Decision-making support
The input of a specific catchment area into the power plant’s waterway can be quantified on the basis of the suspended sediment concentrations over time (suspended sediment load). The calculation of the cumulative suspended sediment load then allows a comparison to be made with other catchment areas. In this way, an individual catchment area can be placed in the context of the entire waterway.
This provides you with all the facts you need to determine a discharge or shutdown concentration, above which you can decide to discharge the specific catchment area (intake) or shut down the hydro power plant.
Technical requirements
Only a few additional technical requirements need to be met to integrate etahydro into your hydro power plant.

Installation measuring devices
To use the two modules, the units (turbine efficiency monitoring) and the intakes (suspended sediment monitoring) must be equipped with appropriate measurement technology.

Connection to control system
Data processing requires the hydro power plant control system to be connected to the Hydro Insights cloud. A corresponding server is usually installed by the control system provider itself. Once installed, Axpo sets up the protected data connection.
